Screen Actors Guild Award Nominees Announced

This morning the nominees for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced honoring some of the best in film and television from this year. The SAG Awards are the only televised award show that focuses solely on the performers; instead of having a best film category, the show features a best ensemble cast award.

The SAG Awards are also a great indicator of what will be nominated and win at the Oscars. In the five major film categories, the winners of the SAG Awards last year also won their corresponding Oscars.

Surprisingly, this year’s list of nominees doesn’t include several high profile contenders. Left off are Hugo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and War Horse.
