Jimi Hendrix will be the inspiration for a new park, which is set to be located in Seattle’s Central District, Komo News reported. The park is set to open in 2012 in honor of what would have been Hendrix’s 70th birthday. Designs for the park were revealed on Dec. 1 at a public meeting that took place at the Northwest African American Museum.
The park will be 2.5 acres and will most likely feature “lyrical stepping stones,” a performance area and a green space. The park will be funded by The Parks and Green Spaces Opportunity Fund, Neighborhood Matching Fund Award and donations from the guitarist’s sister, Janie Hendrix.
