At this point, nothing that Will Ferrell does should come as a surprise to anyone. But the fact that Ferrell is starring in a Western, entirely in Spanish, is still kind of a shock.
Casa de mi Padre stars Ferrell as Armando Alvarez, who watches over his father’s ranch with his brother Raul, played by Diego Luna. Unfortunately a new love interest gets between the two brothers as well as a gangster named Onza, played by Gael Garcia Bernal, who will be a threat to the two brothers and their business.
The film is the directorial debut of Matt Piedmont, who has worked on many “Funny or Die” videos in the past. It’s being written by Andrew Steele, who also has worked with “Funny or Die” as well as written for such varied shows as Saturday Night Live and Doug as well as the movie The Ladies Man. Casa de mi Padre is scheduled to be released on March 16, 2012.
