Established back in 2001, the Late Night Tales series gives iconic artists the opportunity to revisit their own collections as well as their personal favorites in order to create their individual “late night” collections.
Musicians like The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Arctic Monkeys, Air and more have taken their favorite tracks and produced their own takes on the concept in the past.
The collection features not only their personal favorites but also their inspirations and overlooked gems and provides an opportunity to pay homage to an idol by creating something authentic from past influences.
This week Belle & Sebastian announced their second volume of the Late Night Tales series.
The album is their all-time favorite late night tracks that include the work of Joe Pass, Mulatu Astatke Yekermo Sew, Milton Nascimento & Lo Borges, Marie Laforet, McDonald And Giles, Gold Panda, Stan Tracey Quartet, The Lovin Spoonful, an exclusive of their very own track “Crash”, Roland Vincent, Blood, Sweat & Tears, and Trees.
The album is available March 26. Watch the promo video below.
