Dr. John to Release Dan Auerbach-Produced Album on Nonesuch Records
Locked Down set for April 3 release
Dr. John announced a new album today titled Locked Down. It will be released April 3 on Nonesuch Records and was produced by Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach. The release is Dr. John’s first for Nonesuch, and a press release called the album a “departure from his recent efforts.”
Dr. John (real name: Mac Rebennack) recorded the album at Easy Eye Sound in Nashville. Auerbach hand picked a group of musicians for the album that Rebennack called “way cool.” Auerbach also mixed the album.
“Mac inspired me every single day we were in the studio together – musically, spiritually, cosmically — something special seemed to be happening and everyone involved could sense it,” Auerbach said about the collaboration in a press release. “For my money, Mac’s one of the greatest who ever was and who ever will be. I’m so honored to have had this opportunity to work with him.”
