J. Tillman Leaves Fleet Foxes

Drummer J. Tillman has left Fleet Foxes, Pitchfork points out. The announcement comes from a post on Tillman’s Tumblr that said:

“Farewell Fleet Fans and Friends. Back into the gaping maw of obscurity I go. Tokyo is my last show with the Foxes. Sorry if I was distant and obtuse if we ever met. Have fun.”

The drummer joined the band in 2008 and has released solo albums throughout his time with the band that include 2009’s Vacilando Territory Blues and 2010’s Singing Ax.

The website also noted that Poor Moon, a project that includes Fleet Foxes’ Christian Wargo and Casey Wescott, recently signed with Sub Pop records. You can take a listen to their debut track, “People in her Mind,” below. The track will appear on the group’s Illusion EP, which will be released March 27.
