Listen to David Lynch Remix Zola Jesus

A song by Nika Roza Danilova, who’s better known as Zola Jesus, was remixed in a big way today. Not only did the emerging art-rocker’s Conatas track “In Your Nature” get a drastically reimagined version, but it was by the hands of the director-turned-musician behind classic films like Eraserhead, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive.

In fact, Danilova wasn’t interested in remixing her music until she heard that David Lynch wanted to do it, Pitchfork points out.

“I feel like reinterpreting something can remove its context,” Danilova told Pitchfork. “But when David Lynch asks to remix your song, you let him.”

Aside from remixing the track, Lynch and engineer Dean Hurley added additional instrumentation to “In Your Nature.” The track comes from an upcoming single, which will be out on 7” and digitally on Feb. 21 on Sacred Bones.

Take a listen to the track over at Pitchfork.
