Listen to New Party Systems' New OWS Song

Creating an indie supergroup of their own, TV on the Radio singer Kyp Malone, Notekillers guitarist David First, ex-Liturgy drummer Greg Fox and current Liturgy bassist Bernard Gann have just debuted a new track called “We Are” supporting the Occupy Wall Street movement.

The group, which refers to itself as New Party Systems, was conceived just a few months ago and only announced last month when the Village Voice reported that Fox, Malone, and Kid Millions would release an LP and donate the profits to the Occupy protest.

“We Are” opens with a chorus of smooth harmonies and evolves into a tune marked by fierce drumming and poignant lyrics. The song ends with a well-mixed chant of “We are the 99 percent” (recorded at a Nov. 17 march on Wall Street) layered over Fox’s rhythmic pounding and First’s grungy guitars.

The video for “We Are,” which was directed by Toni Comas, shows protesters from around the world lip-syncing the lyrics (which can be read on YouTube page).

Although New Party Systems has not yet released details on a full album release, you can watch the video below and stream/purchase the song from their Bandcamp page.
