Survivor Sues Newt Gingrich For Using “Eye of the Tiger”

Following in the footsteps of many musicians before them (see: Bruce Springsteen, Don Henley, Jackson Browne, and the Foo Fighters as just a few examples), Survivor is pissed off that a politician has been using their music without permission on the campaign trail.

Republican candidate Newt Gingrich has been playing Survivor’s epic 1982 hit “Eye of the Tiger” as entrance music at political rallies since 2009. So, Rude Music Inc., a firm owned by the song’s co-author Frank Sullivan, filed a claim in an Illinois federal court yesterday insisting that Gingrich stop using the song immediately and pay the company an undisclosed amount of money in fees.

Gingrich has yet to comment on the matter.
