Cowboy Junkies Announce New Album, Tour
Cowboy Junkies announced today the release of The Wilderness, the final album in their “Nomad Series.” It will be the band’s fourth album in 18 months and will follow last year’s Sing in My Meadow. The band is expected to release the album this March.
“The title, The Wilderness, in some odd way seemed to define what these songs were actually about: fragility, emptiness, loneliness, beauty, chance, loss, desperation, the delicate balancing act that makes up a life,” Cowboy Junkies’ songwriter Michael Timmins said about the album. “They are about being lost in the wilderness of age, the wilderness of parenthood, in the wilderness of just trying to find meaning and substance, happiness and truth in one’s day to day life.”
A press release for the band also said that a book is expected to be published that’s inspired by the four volumes. The book will be published by Whale and Star and will “delve into the character, nature, and inspiration behind each of the album.”
The band is slated to tour behind the album starting on Feb. 23 in Ithaca, N.Y. The tour will wrap up on April 13 in Ann Arbor, Mich. at the Ark. Take a look at the tour dates below, and check out Cowboy Junkies’ website here.
