Dave Grohl Collaborating with Corey Taylor, Others for Sound City Studios Documentary
We’ve heard rumblings that the Foo Fighters frontman was working on some new projects lately—everything from new songs for the Foos to recording with members of Ratt. And now, Slipknot and Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor has confirmed additional details on Dave Grohl’s mysterious plans.
In an interview with Artisan News Service, Taylor explained that “Dave is doing a documentary about the legendary board from Sound City that everybody and their mom recorded on and he’s slowly but surely gotten all these people together to make music on that board again.”
The legendary Van Nuys, Calif.-based studio has housed artists like Nirvana, Tom Petty, Nine Inch Nails, Eric Clapton and REO Speedwagon as they’ve created career-changing records.
Taylor continued, “He called me. He was like, ‘Would you like to do a tune?’ I was like, ‘Are you serious? I’m on a plane right now.’ And it’s really cool, because it’s me, Dave and Rick Nielsen [Cheap Trick] on one tune. And I’m like, ‘Ahh . Excuse me?!’ It’s just a huge check mark on my bucket list, let’s put it that way. And I’m really ecstatic. It’s a really good tune.”
Though neither Grohl nor Taylor has mentioned a release date for this still-unnamed project, we can’t wait to hear who else is contributing.
