DC Comics To Release Watchmen Prequels
Watchmen creator Alan Moore hated the film based off of the comics. He also hated adaptations of V For Vendetta and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. We’re sure he has a bone to pick with DC Comics, who just announced that they will run a limited series of Watchmen prequels written and drawn by someone other than Moore and original artist Dave Gibbons.
The series, aptly entitled Before Watchmen, will follow the Watchmen as well as the Minutemen, the original super group. In addition to these stories, there will be separate, continuing story called Curse of the Crimson Sailor much like the original comic being intersected with The Tales of the Black Freighter.
Below is a list of titles and details of each series.
Rorshach: (4 issues) – Writer: Brian Azzarello. Artist: Lee Bermejo
Minutemen: (6 issues) – Writer/Artist: Darwyn Cooke
Silk Spectre: (4 issues) – Writer: Darwyn Cooke. Artist: Amanda Conner
Dr. Manhattan: Writer: J. Michael Straczynski. Artist: Adam Hughes
Nite Owl: (4 issues) – Writer: J. Michael Straczynski. Artists: Andy and Joe Kubert
Comedian: Writer: Brian Azzarello. Artist: J.G. Jones
Ozymandias: (6 issues) – Writer: Len Wein. Artist: Jae Lee
In addition to these series and the aforementioned Crimson Sailor, the prequels will include a oneshot entitled Before Watchmen: Epilogue.
