Hugh Grant Cast as Rapist, Cannibal for Cloud Atlas

It would be hard for Hugh Grant to complain about type-casting anymore, because it seems like his newest role is far-flung from a clean-cut gentleman type. NME reported that the actor, most famous for his parts in Notting Hill and About a Boy, has been cast as a rapist and cannibal for Cloud Atlas. The film is an adaptation of the David Mitchell novel and is set to star Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Jim Broadbent.

We already reported the casting in September, but the part is far from what we expected from the actor. The film was written by Tom Twyker, the same guy behind Run, Lola, Run and is set to be directed by the Wachowski brothers, who are most famous for their Matrix Trilogy.

“I thought before I read it that I’d turn it down, which I normally do, but I was interested in meeting the Wachowskis because I have always admired them enormously,” Grant told Empire. “And they are so charming and fascinating."

NME said the film’s release is expected in October.
