NBC's Friday Night Dinner Adaptation Lands Two Emmy Winners As Leads

Greg Daniels (creator of the American version of The Office) has already generated a lot of buzz for another British adaptation with Friday Night Dinner, which was picked up by NBC for a pilot test a few weeks ago. Now the buzz has grown expotentially thanks to the series gaining finalized deals from Emmy winners Tony Shalhoub and Allison Janney as the stars.

According to Deadline, the series will star Shalhoub and Janney as Gene and Barbara, the parents of a quirky family who has dinner together every Friday night. The original British series premiered in 2011, and a second season about the Jewish family is set to premiere later in 2012 with Paul Ritter and Tasmin Greig starring in the main roles that Shalhoub and Janney will adapt.

Daniels is bringing on Ken Kwapis, who directed episodes of The Office, to direct the pilot episode.
