Read the Oscar-Nominated Script for <i>The Artist</i>

A lot of people have been scoffing at the idea that The Artist, a silent film, has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Even Jimmy Kimmel joked last night that the script had to be but four pages. It turns out the script is rich in detail and explains how every scene is supposed to be set up.

Though writer/director Michel Hazanavicius’ script isn’t a favorite to win (the frontrunner is Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris) it has opened the door to some of the more creative scripts floating around Hollywood. Deadline received an exclusive copy of the script which you can read in its entirety here.
