Reports Claim Colbert Halted Production to be With Mother

Yesterday we reported that The Colbert Report halted production due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Now the New York Post has stated Stephen Colbert halted production to spend time with his ailing 91-year-old mother.

“They are a very private family," The Post’s unnamed source said. "It’s not surprising that he did not want anyone to know what was going on.”

Colbert is the youngest of 11 children and is said to be extremely close to his mother. The host has yet to offer an official statement on the postponement of filming, and his representatives also would not issue a comment at this time.

Comedy Central will air repeats until further notice, but has hopes that the show will return as soon as next week.
