The 2012 Independent Spirit Awards: Photos & Winners

The Oscars weren’t the only film awards this past weekend—or even the most fun. The 2012 Independent Spirit Awards were presented Saturday afternoon on the beautiful Santa Monica beach, and Paste was there to capture all the magic. Cameras weren’t allowed for the two hours of schmoozing before the event, but we were able to capture some images of award winners addressing the press tent. Some of our favorites are included below. The 2012 Independent Spirit Awards went to:

Best Feature: “The Artist”
Best Director: Michel Hazanavicius – “The Artist”
Best Screenplay: Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon, Jim Rash – “The Descendants”
Best First Feature: “Margin Call” – Director: J.C. Chandor

John Cassavetes Award: “Pariah” – Writer/Director: Dee Rees
Best Female Lead: Michelle Williams – “My Week with Marilyn”
Best Male Lead: Jean Dujardin – “The Artist”
Best Supporting Female: Shailene Woodley – “The Descendants”
Best Supporting Male: Christopher Plummer – “Beginners”
Best Cinematography: Guillaume Schiffman – “The Artist”
Best Documentary: “The Interrupters”
Best International Film: “A Separation” (Iran)
