Watch Islands' New Video For “Hallways”
It’s still about six months too early to be watching skeletons singing and dancing, but Islands manage to pull it off in their new video for “Hallways” without feeling too Halloweeny. The video, co-directed by Lex Halaby and puppeteer Toben Seymour, features Islands’ singer Nick Thorburn jamming with, and then joining, a band of skeleton musicians.
Inspired by animator Max Fleischer’s illustrations and Walt Disney’s 1929 short, “The Skeleton Dance,” Islands’ video was an attempt to be funny and creepy. On the technical side, Halaby explained that they, “wanted an animated world that looked more like stop-motion animation. The skeleton puppets were brought to life by four puppeteers; each one controlling the arms, legs, torso and head. It was a team effort in every single shot.”
“Hallways” appears on Islands’ fourth studio album A Sleep & A Forgetting that was released last week. Check out the video for the new single below.
