Watch Bon Iver's 25-Minute 4AD Session
4AD and Jagjaguar released last night a 25-minute session that features Justin Vernon and Sean Carey performing stripped-down Bon Iver tracks. The idea behind the performance was to give an alternative to Vernon’s usual 11-piece, layered live performances. Carey —who plays drums, piano and sings in Vernon’s touring band— is featured mostly on piano and vocals in the session, which was recorded last October.
The session was recorded at AIR Studios’ Lyndurst Hall, which was originally a church and missionary school. The set includes “Hinnom, TX,” “Wash.,” Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” “Babys” and “Beth/Rest.”
The video was directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard. It was recorded and mixed by Jake Jackson and Brian Joseph. You can watch the whole thing below.
