IFC Renews Portlandia, Announces Premieres

IFC has officially renewed its main attraction, Portlandia. The sketch show is currently in its second season and its third season is set to return in January 2013. Along with the return of the series will be a holiday special as well as Portlandia: The Brunch Special, which will air this summer.

In addition to Portlandia’s return, two previously announced shows, Comedy Bang Bang and Bunk received premiere dates.

Comedy Bang Bang will debut on June 8. The show is based on Scott Aukerman’s (co-creator/director/producer, Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis) podcast. The show is similar to the typical late night format, but focuses more on the comedic arts than anything else. One-man band mastermind Reggie Watts will serve as the shows bandleader

Bunk will also premiere on June 8. It is a comedy game show where a panel of comedians compete in ridiculous challenges for less than rewarding prizes.

In addition to these shows, Deadline reports on a list of potential series including a coming of age show called Out There and the adventures of a misanthropic comedian entitled Maron.
