Johnny Depp to Cover "You're So Vain" with Marilyn Manson

In what might be one of the strangest collaborations since Lou Reed and Metallica, actor/musician Johnny Depp and gothic rocker Marilyn Manson have announced that they will be recording a song together. Not just any old tune, though, the two chose Carly Simon’s 1972 hit single, “You’re So Vain.”

The cover will appear as a bonus track on Manson’s forthcoming album, Born Villain, set to be released on May 1. Manson will sing on the track while Depp will lay down drum tracks and play guitar.

Manson told MTV News U.K. that they elected to record “You’re So Vain” because “we thought was ironic for each other.”
