Justin Vernon-Curated Label To Release First Album In May

Amateur Love, the band Justin Vernon calls “the singular catalyst in founding” the label Chigliak, is set to release an album for the label on May 22. The band—which hails from Eau Clair, Wisc., the same city as Vernon—is rereleasing their 2003 album It’s All Aquatic, which was their only release.

“Our goal is to release records that hold weight in people’s hearts,” said Vernon regarding the album. “When an artist sells records to people all over the world, their music is then validated by a larger social contract. But Amateur Love is the most popular band this town has ever known, and for good reason.”

It’s All Aquatic will be rereleased as a vinyl record, which will include a special download of unreleased recordings from the band. The album will also be released digitally.

Check out the album’s tracklisting and stream “Con/A Sweat/Cat” below.
