Listen To A Snippet of Soundgarden’s First New Song In 15 Years

For the first time since 1996’s Down on the Upside, the four original members of Seattle grunge band Soundgarden have written new music together. The song, “Live To Rise,” is scheduled to appear on the soundtrack to the superhero super-film, The Avengers this May.

Though only a 22-second clip of the track has been posted, it is already telling: even without any of Chris Cornell’s trademark wails, the band’s huge heavy riffs remain intact.

Additionally, London’s Hard Rock Calling festival announced today that Soundgarden will take the Friday night headlining spot. Earlier, we reported that Bruce Springsteen will take his Wrecking Ball tour to town on Saturday and Paul Simon will perform Graceland in its entirety on Sunday.

Take a listen to “Live To Rise” below.
