The Roots Announce 5th Annual Roots Picnic in Philadelphia

For the fifth year in a row, hip-hop collective and late night band-extraordinaire The Roots will curate The Roots Picnic in their hometown of Philadelphia. This year, the event will take place at Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing June 2-3.

The lineup features the Roots headlining their own set, as well as backing up De La Soul. Other performers include Major Lazer, Diplo, St. Vincent, tUnE-yArDs, Flosstradamus, Wale and James Murphy (for a DJ set).

Presale tickets are on sale today from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. (password is “picnic”) and cost $80 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
