The Smiths Remastered Albums to be Sold Individually
Even though cult icons The Smiths recently released an enormous remastered boxed set of their entire back catalog, the band announced that each of the albums included in the set will be available for individual purchase on April 3 through Rhino.
Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr—who went on to play with other successful acts like Modest Mouse, The The and The Cribs—remastered his original band’s tapes with help from engineer Frank Arkwright last fall. Each the group’s four studio albums—The Smiths, Meat Is Murder, The Queen Is Dead and Strangeways, Here We Come—as well as their live record, Rank, and three compilation discs— Hatful of Hollow, The World Won’t Listen and Louder Than Bombs—will be sold at major physical retails outlets around the country. These re-releases shed light previously out-of-print records and mark the first time that The World Won’t Listen will be available in the U.S.
