Connie Britton to Make TV Return with Nashville

After starring roles on shows like Friday Night Lights and American Horror Story, Connie Britton is looking to return to television in a new ABC pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Nashville is set to follow Rayna, a musician past her prime who must go on tour with the much younger Juliette Barnes to bring life back to her career. If the title didn’t give it away, the show is set around Nashville’s music scene.

Britton is slated to play Rayna, while former Heroes star Hayden Panettiere is expected to take the role of Barnes. The cast is also set to feature Powers Boothe, Jonathan Jackson and Eric Close.

Callie Khouri, who wrote the screenplays for Thelma & Louise and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, created the show. R.J. Cutler, who directed the 2009 documentary, The September Issue, is directing the pilot.
