Justin Vernon Collaborates with Astronautalis for Album
This past weekend, Vernon went into his recording studio in Wisconsin with rapper Astronautalis, a combination that is sure to spark interest for its unusual combination.
Vernon and Astronautalis (also known as Andy Bothwell), along with drummer S. Carey and producer Ryan Olson, collaborated to create an album that according to those involved, will be unlike what people are expecting.
“A lot of my fans are like, ‘Oh this is going to be amazing: Astronautalis rapping and Justin singing choruses.’ It’s not going to be like that,” Bothwell said in an interview with City Pages’ Gimme Noise blog.
Vernon and Astronautalis came together in an effort to make something less structured than their previous albums. “What sparked this was that he and I are obsessive and lose our minds working on albums,” Bothwell said.
The duo would like to get the album released quickly and also want to do some shows for the album as well, whatever it turns out to be.
