Although the internet has already speculated what this would sound like, it looks like Bruno Mars and producer Mark Ronson—who is best known for his work on Amy Winehouse’s sophomore album, Back to Black—are now collaborating in the studio, according to Ronson’s publicist.
While not much about the collaboration has been revealed, the news comes after Ronson’s recent production on Rufus Wainwright’s latest album, Out of the Game, which also features Ronson’s go-to studio band, The Dap Kings. Mars tweeted on April 10 that he was in the recording studio working on his second album, but it isn’t clear whether these sessions were with Ronson. Mars also performed a tribute to Winehouse last year at the MTV VMAs.
Ronson tweeted this today at a Wainwright fan, which could be in reference to the pop direction of this album:
“thanks, im sure you’ll hate the next one RT @Simsy42 wasnt a fan of your work til I listened to the Rufus album Out of the Game. Outstanding.”
Keep checking back for more details on the collaboration.
