Scarlett Johansson and Massive Attack’s frontman 3D have recorded a cover of “Summertime,” the iconic 1935 aria composed by George Gershwin.
The track is a part of Everardo Valerio Gout’s upcoming Spanish-language film Dias de Gracias (Days Of Grace) which Cannes 2011 said is, “an experience close to living through Mexico City drug wars, high on adrenaline.”
The film is set for a U.K. release in July and stars Carlos Bardem, younger brother of Academy Award Winner Javier Bardem and Paulina Gaitan.
The soundtrack for Dias de Gracias includes the work of Nick Cave, Trent Renzor, Atticus Ross and Warren Ellis. This is not Johansson’s first time lending her raspy vocals to an album. In 2009 she released a joint album with Pete Yorn titled Break Up, which included the hit “Relator.”
