The Civil Wars Cover Michael Jackson, Portishead For 7"

The Civil Wars’ blend of country, folk and gorgeous songwriting won them a pair of Grammys and earned the group a spot on the soundtrack for The Hunger Games this year. And this coming Saturday, The Civil Wars are set to release a 7” for Record Store Day that features two unexpected covers.

The live recordings will feature Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” on one side and Portishead’s “Sour Times” on the other, both songs a stark contrast to their usual style.

To find locations that participate in Record Store Day on April 21, check out the official Record Store Day website, where you can also see an entire list of releases from artists like Feist and Mastodon (releasing a split single as “Feistodon”), The Flaming Lips, Beach House and St. Vincent.
