This Week in News

It was a sad week for music fans everywhere with two huge losses—first American Bandstand host Dick Clark died suddenly on Wednesday, and after an abrupt announcement, The Band’s drummer Levon Helm also died Thursday following a long struggle with cancer. We also compiled a gallery of musicians and figures in pop culture remembering Helm.

With Record Store Day taking place yesterday, we got some early peeks at tracks from the event throughout the week. Most notably, we caught the bizarre collaboration between Feist and Mastodon, where the two acts covered each other’s tracks. You can take a listen to both of those here.

We heard about Conor Oberst opening a new Omaha bar called Pageturners Lounge (and plenty of you left some hilarious names of drinks you’d expect the bar to have on our Facebook page). We also caught a clip from Radiohead Austin City Limits performance, where they performed “Lotus Flower.”

A photo of Anthony Hopkins from the forthcoming film Hitchcock emerged, and the results (and resemblance to the late director) were pretty amazing. And in news dealing with chilling resemblances, take a look at that Tupac Hologram if you haven’t already.
