New Christopher Guest TV Show in the Works

Vulture reported that Christopher Guest, the iconic comedic satirist who brought us the improv-based classics Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show, is working on a new TV show with longtime collaborator Jim Piddock.

The show will be called Family Tree and center around a character played by Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) as he tries to track down his real family. The half-hour show will reportedly be commercial-free and, in true Guest form, rely heavily on improvisation. NBCUniversal is currently shopping the show to networks that would be able to accommodate a commercial-free format such as HBO, Showtime and Netflix.

Family Tree will mark Guest’s first project since the 2006 film For Your Consideration.
