Donald Glover to Guest Star on Girls

Girls creator and star Lena Dunham has responded to criticisms of a lack of diversity on the show by tapping Community’s Donald Glover to guest star, as evidenced by his presence in set photos from the filming of season two, which began this week in Brooklyn.

In an interview with NPR’s Terry Gross, Dunham admitted that the show currently suffers from a racially homogeneous cast, but she and the writers are excited to add “some great actors of color” to the lineup, including Glover and others.

Dunham won’t reveal what Glover’s role will be, but states that she takes the racial criticisms of her show very seriously, and that “this show isn’t supposed to feel exclusionary. It’s supposed to feel honest, and it’s supposed to feel true to many aspects of my experience.”
