Elton John Hospitalized, Cancels Vegas Shows
Pop legend Elton John was hospitalized in Los Angeles early Wednesday morning due to a severe respiratory infection, TMZ reports.
The singer was checked into Cedars-Sinai Hospital at 6 a.m. and underwent several tests to determine the severity of his condition. His doctors ordered bedrest and antibiotics for seven days, requiring cancellation of four upcoming Las Vegas concerts.
“It feels strange not to be able to perform these ‘Million Dollar Piano’ concerts at the Colosseum,” John said to TMZ. “I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts. All I can say to the fans is ‘sorry I can’t be with you.’”
After undergoing more tests, John has reportedly been released from the hospital against doctors’ orders. There’s still no word on whether his European tour, slated to begin June 1, will be impacted.
