LCD Soundsystem Film to Screen in Theaters for One Night
Shut Up and Play the Hits to screen in 70 cities on July 28
Shut Up and Play the Hits, the documentary that follows the final days of LCD Soundsystem, is scheduled to play for a single night in select theaters across the country. The film was only screened at festivals until now, but on July 28 viewers will be able to watch the film in theaters in 70 different cities. Find a theater near you here, and get ready to take to the aisles and start dancing. Tickets are available for purchase starting June 8.
Directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the film is the duo’s newest project after recently completing a film that followed Blur through its 2009 reunion tour. In Shut Up and Play the Hits, they document the 48 hours that surrounded LCD Soundsystem’s sold-out final performance at Madison Square Garden, a show that ran for almost four hours and featured appearances from members of Arcade Fire, among others. The documentary is set to be released worldwide later this summer.
The Creators Project—in conjunction with Oscilloscope Laboratories, the film’s distributor which was created by Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch—are hosting a contest where one winner will be flown to New York City for a screening and a chance to meet James Murphy. Details on the contest can be found here.
