Sigur Rós Announces Valtari Film Project
Sigur Rós has announced an upcoming project titled “Mystery Film Experience,” which will be a collection of music videos for the soon to be released album, Valtari, each made by different filmmakers.
Each video will premiere through a partnership with Vevo.
“We don’t want to tell anyone how to feel and what to take from it as they listen," bassist Georg Holm said in a press release. "With the films, we have literally no idea what the directors are going to come back with. None of them know what the others are doing, so it could be interesting.”
The first release for the series, “Ég anda,” was directed by Ragnar Kjartansson. The other artists and directors signed on for the project include: Nick Abrahams, Arni & Kinski, Ramin Bahrani, Melika Bass, Inga & Lilja Birgisdottir, Alma Har’el, Sarah Hopper, Clare Langan, Henry Jun Wah Lee, Ryan McGinley, John Cameron Mitchell and Dash Shaw.
Valtari will be relased on May 29 but is currently streaming on NPR Music’s “First Listen.” Watch the “Ég anda” video below.
