This week was a big one for new song releases, with new tracks from Animal Collective, Matisyahu, The Walkmen and Passion Pit getting online releases.

We also heard of the passing of Maurice Sendak on Tuesday, who was best known for his children’s books that included Where the Wild Things Are. The author was 83.

There’s also been lots of superhero news this week with the recent release of Marvel’s The Avengers. Aside from confirmation for an Avengers and Captain America sequel, Kick-Ass, the painfully realistic tale of a student-turned-superhero, is expected to get a sequel from Universal.

It was a bittersweet week for fans of NBC’s Thursday night lineup, with news of the renewal of Community, The Office, Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock. But it was announced that for 30 Rock, this would also be the show’s last season. It’s also been rumored that this could be the last season for Community and Parks and Rec.
