Facebook Launches App Centre

In Facebook’s first major move toward turning itself into an online entertainment platform, the social network has launched its own app store.

Announced in a blogpost yesterday, the “App Centre” will feature over 600 apps, including many new games alongside popular favorites such as Draw Something and Pinterest. The store becomes available to U.S. users today, and will roll out to international users throughout the next few weeks.

Facebook’s Matt Wyndowe said in the blogpost, “The App Centre gives you personalized recommendations, and lets you browse the apps your friends use. It only lists high-quality apps, based on feedback from people who use the app.”

The App Centre will be available through Facebook’s website, as well as on Facebook iOS and Android apps.
