Final Fantasy VII Could Be Headed to Digital Distribution Platform Steam

It’s not the remake most gamers want, but an updated PC version of Final Fantasy VII could be headed to the digital distribution platform Steam for only $12.50. A Google cache, called “FinalFantasyVIIPC.com” was discovered; the domain is currently registered to Square Enix.

The leaked files include information on brand new Steam features, including 36 achievements, cloud (no pun intended) save support and “Character Booster” items.

According to Polygon, who contacted Square Enix for comment, representatives have neither confirmed nor denied this rumor, instead commenting “We don’t have any news or information to announce at this time.”

Steam registries for Final Fantasy VII and VIII were discovered in June of last year, but never reached release point. According to Shack News, the ports were dubbed “’extremely temperamental’ on modern systems.”
