Cat Power Announces New Album, Releases Track

In April, Cat Power tweeted that she would be releasing a new album in September, and now Matador Records has made it official. On Sept. 4 they will be releasing the singer/songwriter’s first album of original material in over six years. The album, titled Sun, was self-produced by Cat Power, also known as Chan Marshall, and was recorded at various locations, including Marshall’s own studio in Malibu, Calif.

Along with the announcement comes the release of “Ruin,” a new song that will be included on the album. Listen below in the form of a video introducing the song. You can download an mp3 of the new track here. Also below is the complete tracklisting for Sun.
