In an interview with Pitchfork, Apple talked further about “Werewolf” and the screaming sample it features around 2:10. The artist originally recorded the song in her mother’s Harlem apartment with a movie battle scene playing in the background. Unable to use the sound from the movie, she began hunting for a replacement.
