After no mention of new releases in 2011, George Lucas’ video game company, LucasArts, announced Friday that a new Star Wars game, titled Star Wars: 1313, is in development. Unlike most Star Wars titles, 1313 will focus on a bounty hunter and not a Jedi. The usually kid-friendly franchise will be hoping for a mature rating as players will explore Coruscant’s criminal underground, aptly named Level 1313.
LucasArts has seen better days with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II receiving a majority of negative reviews and also laying off a third of its staff in late 2010. Other Lucas companies, such as Industrial Lights & Magic, LucasFilm Animation and Skywalker Sound, will also be working on the title.
The game will be unveiled at the E3 conference next week in Los Angeles. LucasArts has yet to announce a release date.
