New Child's Play Film, Curse of Chucky, Underway
In 1988, it was hard to believe that a serial killer plastic doll would supply enough interest to warrant six films, but anything is possible. Universal announced that the sixth installment in the Child’s Play franchise will be a sequel (rather than a rumored reboot), titled Curse of Chucky.
Don Mancini, who wrote the original story and has been involved with every Chucky flick since, will return as both writer and director. Mancini made his directorial debut on the series with Seed of Chucky in 2004. Brad Dourif, who has supplied Chucky’s foul-mouthed frightening voice for decades, is expected to return to reprise the role. The franchise hopes to return to its “darker and scarier” roots, according to Empire.
The film’s release date hasn’t yet been announced, but it will be released directly to Blu-Ray and DVD, so you can enjoy psychotic doll killers in the comfort of your own home.
