Rob Cohen to Make Isaac Newton Action Flick

As Seth Grahame-Smith’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter gets ready to release later this month, another historical figure looks to get a high-octane, action thriller makeover: Sir Isaac Newton.

Rob Cohen is the man behind this scientific, ass-kicking juxtaposition. The 63-year-old director already boasts an impressive action résumé having directed films such as xXx and The Fast and the Furious. Cohen will be joined by Gene Kirkwood, producer of Rocky and UHF.

Cohen’s new film will focus on the time between Newton serving as warden of the Royal Mint in 1696 until his death in 1727. The project is currently untitled and is headed by the new film venture, BiteSize Entertainment.

Can’t get enough of famous historical figures in action-packed roles? Check out Matt Fraction’s (Invincible Iron Man) 2006 graphic novel, The Five Fists of Science. This year has been an annus mirabilis for head-scratching action films and this graphic novel seems primed for a film adaptation.
