Samuel L. Jackson, beloved by many (again) after his role as the battle-hardened Nick Fury in The Avengers, adds his name to the already impressive list of actors in Jose Padilha’s RoboCop remake. The original 1986 film follows Alex Murphy as he goes from being a dead man to a cybernetic super-cop.
The Hollywood Reporter states that Jackson will play Pat Novak, a “charismatic media mogul.” Perhaps in Jackson’s case, a journalist with a particularly stern speaking/yelling voice.
Other actors in the sci-fi remake, which is slated for August 2013, include Joel Kinnaman, who stepped in to play the film’s hero, and Gary Oldman as his scientific creator.
Jackson isn’t new to the world of science-fiction. Besides playing the one-eyed alien asskicker in The Avengers, Jackson also appeared in Star Wars, Jumper and Deep Blue Sea. Luckily, this film is expected to take place far from any man-eating genius sharks.
