Showtime Adds Two New Dramas

Showtime is adding two fresh shows to its lineup, according to the Los Angeles Times. Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan will join an already impressive roster in 2013.

Masters of Sex stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as a husband-and-wife duo studying the nature of human sexuality. The show is based off of the 2009 biography, Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, the Couple Who Taught America How to Love, by Thomas Maier. The real-life couple founded a research institute in 1964 to further pursue their studies.

Ray Donovan will star Liev Schreiber as an attendant of sorts to L.A.’s elite. While he cleans up the problems of the rich and famous, he also attempts to navigate the complications of his own life. Jon Voight, Elliot Gould and Eddie Marsan will star alongside Schreiber as members of his problematic life.

Both shows have a 12-episode run in their first seasons; their production will begin this summer.
