"The Walking Dead Escape: San Diego" Pairs With Makeup Artist Greg Nicotero

AMC’s The Walking Dead just got way closer to being a tangible experience for Comic-Con attendees: Greg Nicotero, lead special effects makeup artist for the show, is joining with the organizers of the zombie-ridden obstacle course event “The Walking Dead Escape: San Diego” to do makeup on the Walker participants.

The event takes place July 12-14 and is similar to the 5k Run For Your Lives event, but this one is co-branded with the show itself. The event takes place in San Diego’s PetCo Park stadium rather than a field, and now includes an actual show crew.

Nicotero and members of his makeup company, KNB EFX, will be on hand to do their worst on participants who volunteer to be walkers, just like they do to actors and extras on the show. The Walkers will be terrorizing the survivors, all of whom will be cheered on by spectators.

Ticket buyers also receive a Walking Dead issue #100 variant cover, and buying a ticket is the only way to get your hands on it (collectors, take note).
