Watch a Trailer for Nickelodeon's New TMNT Show

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series has had a tumultuous history. Since its inception in the ’80s, there have been several attempts to resurrect the cult-classic franchise under different guises including one re-casting the original Turtles as aliens. Nickelodeon will make the third attempt to bring the reptilian crime-fighting foursome back to television.

The kid-friendly station is evidence enough that this won’t be a gritty reboot of the series, but the animation is highly stylized and well done. Ciro Neili, executive producer for the new series, told Entertainment Weekly: “I tried to boil it down and get to really what’s at the core of it all, which is this sense of brothers and camaraderie. Everything grew out of that. It’s like a band. You want a Beatles thing.”
