Wes Craven's Scream Could Move to MTV
Scream, a franchise that redefined the horror genre in the ’90s, is heading to MTV. TVLine reports that former MTV executives Liz Gateley and Tony DiSanto will tend to the fledgling project under DiGa production, and independent production studio which formed earlier last year.
DiGa is currently looking for a writer to transform the blood-filled film into a cable-friendly thriller. MTV has found moderate success in the non-reality market with series such as Teen Wolf.
There seems to be increasing interest in transforming horror films for television with William Blatty discussing his own goals for the Exorcist franchise and Lifetime developing a Silence of the Lambs prequel. It’s uncertain whether Scream veterans Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson are involved in the project.
