Apple Rumors Suggest New, Smaller iPad

Sources (of the non-Apple variety) are buzzing about a potential smaller, more affordable iPad, much to the chagrin of possible competitors. Bloomberg reported that Apple plans to release the new device before year-end and might potentially announce as early as October. The screen is expected to be between 7 and 8 inches diagonally.

Technology experts are already dubbing the device “the competitors’ worst nightmare.” The “make-it-smaller” business model isn’t exactly new for Apple considering its success in the mp3 player market. Steve Jobs wasn’t on-board with the idea back in October 2010, stating that the iPad’s current size was already the minimum requirement for the device. Official word has yet to surface from Apple, and no price or further specs have been released.
